Vik Muniz’s solo exhibition, "Aftermath of Memories", is currently on view at the National Museum of Brazil (Museu Nacional – UFRJ) in Rio de Janeiro. (Until August 30)
For this exhibition, Muniz has used the very ashes collected from the rubble left behind by the fire that hit the museum in 2018, turning that very painful memory into art.
The ashes associated with one of the greatest patrimonial losses in the country's history take on a new form in photographs and sculptures that articulate art, science, memory, and reconstruction.
